Philips Research Cambridge

Rob Blake, Senior Scientist

Philips Research Cambridge is located at the oldest science park (Cambridge science park) in the UK and in the heart of the Cambridge innovation hub. The hub contains seven big science parks and more than 40,000 people are employed in the high tech industry here. Cambridge is a biotechnology hotspot and the home of a number of Europe’s largest consultancies who also supply their solutions to various Philips businesses.

Activities at this location?

The Cambridge lab focuses on an open innovation approach, working from a broad capability base. A large part of our activities are focused on recognizing Philips needs and developing solutions, but also taking into account outside innovation. We are a connecting factor between the Cambridge innovation hub and the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, aiming to accelerate innovation across Europe, but towards Philips.

Most important research topics?

We focus on supporting Home Healthcare initiatives in the UK, Point of Care fluid diagnostics, Oral Healthcare, Indoor and Outdoor location technologies, microbiology and hygiene. We also create brand new opportunities based on innovations directly from the UK ecosystem.
