Dr Peter Wierenga

Research
Dr Peter Wierenga is responsible for the worldwide research
activities in Philips.
Since joining Philips Research in 1980, Dr Wierenga has held
several positions in Philips. Having started his career as
Research Scientist in 1980, he became Research Department
Head of the group Transport Phenomena in 1989 followed by
the functions of General manager of the Philips Personal
Care Institute (1995-1997), Technology Manager for CRTs
(Cathode Ray Tubes) (1997-Oct. 2000) and Technical Director
of F!T, a Philips-wide break-through project on CRT (Oct.
2000-March 2001). Dr Wierenga was appointed Director of the
Sector Display Systems and Personal Care in April 2001.
In September 2002, he became Program Manager for Lighting
and Visual Experiences. And in June 2005 this function was
extended with this role as General Manager Philips Research
Eindhoven.
Peter Wierenga holds a PhD in Solid State Physics from
Twente University.
