The Philips software analyses PET brain-scan images for
areas of reduced brain activity (left) and displays
these anomalous brain patterns in a concise way (right).
The software then compares these patterns to a database
of reference images of known dementia sufferers. The
patterns of reduced brain activity shown in the above
picture are characteristic of Alzheimer’s Disease
