3D displays are a paradox. On the one hand, it is a dazzling new
technique, employing state-of-the-art engineering. On the other
hand, 3D is nothing new. We human beings, after all, see in three
dimensions. 3D displays are simply an attempt to recreate in
displays the same natural effect that our eyes receive from the
world around us. Indeed, it is the naturalness of the latest forms
of 3D displays—in which those funny glasses from the fifties are
ancient history—that has put the technology on the verge of
conquering the market.
