Wim,
with Philips Research since 1988, has been a well recognized expert in image
processing for high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. A major
achievement was the realization of a resolution of 0.1 nm, using phase-retrieval
methods. He has also worked on signal processing for video data compression
within the MPEG-2 standard. Currently, he is involved in signal processing
for optical data storage, focusing on channel modulation coding and bit
detection. With his deep insight in physics and signal processing, he is
a leader in conceiving new approaches to optical recording systems. Wim
is the project leader of a new European project, called TwoDOS, focusing
on two-dimensional optical storage as a route for the fourth generation. |
