Frits Dijksman, Research Fellow
Philips Research Eindhoven, the Netherlands

Frits Dijksman
Frits has a background in mechanical engineering and has been with Philips Research since 1978.

The unifying theme throughout his career has been ink jet printing technology, ranging from applications in computer peripherals, consumer printers, faxes, display manufacturing, DNA array spotting and Nano Imprint Technology. But it has also ranged from in depth investigations of the basic principles of ink jet printing devices all the way up to the design, realization and putting industrial printing equipment into actual use.

He investigated various cooling processes (for household appliances like refrigerators and industrial applications like Stirling cryocoolers), basic processes of small domestic appliances, heat conduction and flow in polymers and glasses, as well as miniaturization and integration of high precision plastic parts with increased functionality e.g. lenses for optical pick-up units for optical storage equipment.

He was heavily involved in the realization of a prototype and product management of an autonomous vacuum cleaner and the design and system architecture of the IntelliCap, a medical device for transporting medication to predefined spots in the gastrointestinal tract.

From 1984 to 1989 he served the organization as a group leader, from 1989 to 1991 he worked in the Lighting organization as factory mechanization manager.
