Jef has been at Philips Research since 1979. He is an expert in
the design of digital CMOS circuits, domain-specific processors
and general-purpose digital signal processors (DSPs). He has
contributed to architectures and compilers for DSP applications
(e.g. for CD, Digital Audio Broadcasting and UMTS Turbo decoder)
and for high-throughput video applications (e.g. for Natural
Motion which won the Innovation Award from the European Imaging
and Sound Association).
Currently, he focuses on multiprocessor systems, networks-on-chip and wireless sensor nodes for healthcare applications, such as ECG and EEG and lighting applications (e.g. presence detection). He is part-time professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He won a Best Paper Award at the Electronic Design & Test Conference (ED&TC). His work resulted in startup companies like Adelante and Silicon Hive. |
