People love to create their own atmosphere in their home,
setting the mood for a romantic dinner, or making a warm, cozy
environment when it’s cold outside. Subtle lighting helps to
make home a special, personal place.
We’re all familiar with the golden glow of traditional lighting,
but in fact all colored light can enhance our mood and enrich
our experience – as the latest developments in televisions, like
Philips AmbiLight, clearly show. One step further, Philips amBX
technology uses lighting even more dramatically to make games
and Home Cinema movies ever more immersive and exciting.
Such lighting effects don’t need to be limited to TV, games or
movies. In the ExperienceLab, Philips Research is currently
developing simple lighting controls for home use. Just press a
button to create any of a number of pre-set lighting
environments. Static, restful effects...or dynamic ones.
Whatever suits your mood, or whatever mood you’d like to create.
The next step will be to make it easy for people to personalize
their lighting ambience even more, by designing and implementing
their own lighting scenarios.
But lighting only appeals to one of our senses. How can we
involve touch, for instance, in creating our preferred
ambiences? AmBX is already showing the way, with effects, such
as moving air and vibration, programmed in. Other effects can
easily be added.
Soon, creating your own personal multi-sensory environment will
be an everyday treat – whether it’s to create a relaxing
atmosphere, or your 3D movies mind-blowingly realistic...
